Will there be race day registration?
The field will be capped and the race has sold out each of the past three years. We expect the race to sell out again this year. Limited race day registration will be available only if the race has not sold out. Check the website regularly for registration status. Register early to ensure you get a bib!
When is bib pickup?
Friday April 26th: 11:00 am-7:00 pm Ipswich YMCA, 110 County Rd, Ipswich
Race Day, Saturday April 27th: 6:30 am-7:50 am, Crane Beach, Ipswich, MA
Can somebody else pick up my bib?
Will there be refunds if I can’t run or in the event of inclement weather?
No. Once you have registered, there are no refunds, transfer of bibs or deferrals. Because safety is our top priority, the Race Director and organizers reserve the right to modify, shorten or cancel the race in the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances that could make the race unsafe. There will be no rain date for this race.
Where do I park?
Parking for runners and spectators is in the Crane Beach parking lot located at 310 Argilla Road, Ipswich, MA. The parking lot is next to the start/finish area.
When should I arrive race morning?
The Crane Beach parking lot will be open by 6:15 am on race day. Although the parking lot is next to the start/finish area, we recommend all runners arrive not later than 7:00 am in order to park and get to the starting area on time. The race will start promptly at 8:00 am.
Is there a place to store my belongings?
No. Please secure your belongings in your car. Race organizers are not responsible for anything left behind or unattended.
Is the course certified?
The course is not certified, but it has been carefully measured.
Are the roads closed for this race?
No, the roads are not closed for the race. For your safety, there will be multiple police officers, course marshals, and volunteers along the course. However, it is the responsibility of all runners to be aware of road traffic at all times.
Where are the portapotties/restrooms?
The Trustees of Reservations have agreed to allow runners to use the Crane Beach restrooms which are located adjacent to the beach parking lot and the start/finish area. There will also be several portapotties in the start/finish area and portapotties on the course at miles (approx) 4.5, 7.5 and 9.5.
Can I run with my dog?
No. This is for your safety and the safety of all runners. Since dogs are not permitted on Trustee property after March 31st, spectators are also asked to leave their dogs at home.
Can I run with a baby stroller?
No. This is for your safety and the safety of all runners.
Can I run with headphones?
For your safety, the safety of all runners, and to ensure you can hear traffic and course marshals, we strongly discourage the use of headphones.
Will there be pacers?
Is there a time limit?
The course will be open and supported for 3 hours – until 11:00 am.
Are there cash awards for the top finishers?
There are cash awards for the top male and female overall winners, top Ipswich resident finishers and age group finishers (under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and over 70). Runners cannot win more than one award. Awards must be claimed at the awards table in the finish area by 11:30 am. Awards will not be mailed.
Will there be water stops on the course?
There will be five water stops on the course at miles (approx) 2.5, 4.5, 7.5, 9.5 and 11.5. The water stop at 7.5 miles will also have Gatorade.
Will there be medical support on the course?
Yes. Medical support will be located at the start/finish area as well as on the course. For your safety, there will also be multiple police officers, course marshals and volunteers along the course.
Will there be finish area festivities after the race?
You bet! Don’t miss the popular Ipswich Ale Half Marathon after race party! Ipswich Ale and Mercury Brewing soda will be available for purchase at the after party and each runner over 21 will receive a free Ipswich Ale or soda. I.D. will be required. New this year – in addition to the traditional post race bagels and bananas, runners will get free pizza! And finally, Master of Ceremonies extraordinaire Michael Bernier (https://www.michaelbernierandtheuprising.com) will be back again this year to keep the music and party going all morning.
Where do proceeds from race go?
Race proceeds go to the Ipswich Rotary Charitable Trust in support of local scholarships for Ipswich and Triton High Schools and other local charities. The race is hosted by the Ipswich Rotary in partnership with the Trustees of Reservations, the Ipswich YMCA and the North Shore Physicians Group, and with the generous support of our principle sponsors – Ipswich Ale and the Institution for Savings.
